“The neocortex of a sperm whale is SIX TIMES the size of ours; that’s where higher functions like language, planning, thought, and memory are localized in. Their clicks are some of the loudest sounds on Earth (236 decibels) and they can communicate to other sperm whales on the other side of the planet with them. They also have had their giant brains for MILLIONS of years… crazy to think about. They must live incredible lives.”

I really believe that our lack of any real ability to communicate with the other living entities on the planet has kept us from going mad with sadness for their lives. We hunt them and do not know their pain. As I type this my cat is at my left hand telling me it is third breakfast time. Some communication is possible.
